- MN Patriot Guard - COVID 19 Update - 3/24/2020
MN Patriot Guard Members,
As you all know, protocols and procedures regarding the Coronavirus are changing on a daily basis. The Department of Veterans Affairs released the following statement on Friday 3/13/2020:
All large funeral services and military burial honors will cease at veterans cemeteries nationwide starting next week as part of federal efforts to limit the spread of the Coronavirus.
Veterans Affairs officials made the announcement Friday afternoon, with the new policies effective on March 23. That means that funeral services scheduled for this weekend at veterans cemeteries will continue as planned.
VA Suspends Funeral Honors
For the safety of our families, guests, and members, the MN Patriot Guard Missions Team and Ride Captains will no longer be accepting any new missions. This is a temporary and ever-evolving situation. We will likely follow the DVA's lead in returning to our flaglines as they reinstate their military funerals at the national level.
The State Veteran Cemeteries are also invoking major restrictions and limiting their attendees to very small family groups and will be delaying memorial services until a later date, To Be Determined.
Take this time to rest up, enjoy family, polish the scooter, but most importantly, take care of your own health so when this all passes, we can once again join the flagline in showing Honor, Dignity, and Respect for our fallen Hero's.
All State Veterans Home visits will also be cancelled until further notice.
If you have any questions, comments or concerns, please email myself or our missions team at Missions@MNPatriotGuard.org.
The Best we can do is the Least we can do...
