Dear John and the entire Patriot Guard:
It has taken me a while to compose my thoughts because I did not know how to express my gratitude for what your presence at my husband's memorial service has meant to me.
Will was very proud to have served our country during both WW II and Korea. He was grateful to have been able to finish his medical school education through the GI Bill, and although he never wanted to sleep in a tent or go camping again, he was proud to have been able to serve as battalion surgeon during the Korean War. Will lived his last two + years at the Minnesota Veterans Home in Minneapolis where he was shown such honor and respect for being a veteran. Also, where he received supurb care and a wonderful quality of life even under his circumstances. My brother, Jim, talked to him about the Patriot Guard and Will said he would be honored to have your presence when his time came. So I thank you from the bottom of my heart for being there.
It was heart warming for me to walk the line to meet and personally thank each one of you devoted patriots. There was an overwhelming response of emotion, awe and gratitute from those who attended the service, as well. Your work matters.
Thank you.
Anne Fifer
