Mr. Bley,

My name is Mike Oliveira, and I was one of the captains escorting 1LT Chris Goeke's body back home from Afghanistan. I spoke with you at the American Legion lodge, and you passed your card off to me. I just wanted to thank you and your counterparts once again for your show of respect for our fallen brother. I cannot tell you how important it is for soldiers to know their service and sacrifices are appreciated. I attached a picture of myself and Chris to refresh your memory. It was taken a few days after a major engagement with the Taliban. They had tried to attack and destroy our compound, but Chris, as always, bravely led his men into the fight, defeating the enemy and keeping all of his men alive to fight another day.

Please pass on to your fellow Patriot Guard members my sincere thanks. I hope you never have to take part in another ceremony, though I am glad you are all standing by to do so. Thanks again, and take care.
